The Block 2024 -  Block Island

House 1  Maddy and Charlotte

Living and Dining Week 8

Fresh off the back of their first win last week, sisters Maddy and Charlotte were keen to go back-to-back and at first look, the judges thought they were in with a chance. A soaring ceiling line and Velux skylights, Laminex panelling and Venetian render impressed Shaynna, along with the Joel Elliot fireside cabinetry that mirrored the kitchen. Marty gave his thumbs up to the neutral colour palette and real wood-burning fireplace however the judges concluded that even though th room a good they thought it was a bit 'vanilla'

The room featured Satara's Tatum Chair , Sorrento Side Table and Phoenix Console Table.

House 2  Courtney and Grant

Bedroom 2 Reveal Week 4

For Marty, the instant attraction for House 2 came from the curves. “It’s incredible!” he said as he walked in the room, with Darren adding “my heart just jumped out of my chest!”. For Shaynna it was the inclusions such as the Kinsman wardrobes and Satara's the Bailey Dining Chair.

This room, Marty declared, showed why he thought Courtney and Grant were front runners to win the Block. “This house is an auctioneers dream!”

If House 1 was a bit vanilla, Shaynna decided, Courtney and Grant had created Rum ‘n’ Raisin, with pops of colour and style blended throughout.

Shaynna loved the room  “The furniture is all gorgeous,” she summed up. “The colours are all consistent and balanced… a great space!”

The room featured Satara's Marlow Sofa in Boho Squash.

Master Bedroom  Reveal Week 5

Their Master Bedroom featured 2 of Satara's Benjamin Bedside Tables , which the judges loved.

Kitchen Reveal Week 6

The boys put their heart and soul into their kitchen, continuing their coastal theme with a creamy colour scheme, stunning light pendants and a bright and breezy breakfast bar.

Darren said he loved the velvet touch of the island, and the judges agreed it was clearly a space for entertaining.

"This is the biggest kitchen we've seen today by a mile," Marty said.

"I love the fact you can easily sit nine, 10 people around this space. That's what people are coming to Phillip Island to do, gather with their family." which featured Satara's Nelson Stools in Camel and Black.

House 4 Kylie and Brad

Living and Dining Reveal Week 8

From the huge open plan, the clever lighting plan to the Christian Cole circular mirror and custom Islay dining table complete with accent green chairs from Satara  Kylie and Brad’s living and dining area was an instant hit and resulted in a winning room for this team.

House 5  Kristian and Mimi

Master Bedroom  Reveal Week 5

From the raked ceiling with HomePro sheers, to the Wave bedhead, Foundation bedbase and beautiful Artist Lane artworks including the Cape Woolamai Phillip Island piece from Ella Boylan, this was a room that screamed “Coastal Holiday” for Marty.

Not everything was perfect however, with unfinished paintwork and mismatched door handles bothering Shaynna and the LED lighting next to the couple’s trademark Porta Timber feature a bit jarring for Marty.

Darren found the bedside light switches too far away and only one bedside lamp an unusual choice, but overall, they agreed it was a great room… very nearly worth a ten! The wardrobe with new Budino Walnut joinery and Hafele upgrades was a winner, they all agreed, with its drop-down hangers, luxurious leather boxes, trouser racks, shoe drawers and more. “Luxury upon luxury!” Darren said.

The Master Bedroom featured 2 of Satara's Fleur Swivel Chair, Lola Bench and Lola Small Ottoman

Kitchen Reveal Week 6

With four out of five wins, the judges expected a high quality room from Kristian and Mimi.

Walking into House 5's kitchen, it was clear that's exactly what they delivered.

"Well, Kristian and Mimi don't let us down, do they?" said Darren as he took in the space.

"This is stunning," gushed Shaynna.

House 1 Kyle and Leslie

Studio Bedroom Reveal Week 2

After their exciting Week 1 win, Kyle and Leslie were in high spirits as they kicked off their studio bedroom.

The judges were impressed by the enormous size of the space and loved the use of natural stone, the cabinetry's concrete finish, soft furnishings, mismatched but complementary lighting, and the pair's now signature arches. "Those curves," Shaynna adds. "It is so sexy."

Satara's Bergman Swivel Chair was the perfect 'curvy, textured and functional' piece to complement the pairs signature styling.

The judges however, were concerned they may not have made the best use of the layout.

"Apart from having an operable kitchen, it could have been a fully, operational self-contained house," said Darren.

Consequently the couple ended up in second place at the conclusion of judging.

There was no stopping House 1's Kyle and Leslie this week as they brought their signature curves into their kitchen. Their biggest challenge? Adding natural light into their "curvealicious" space, which they managed to do across every aspect, including by the completing their area with our curvy Float Hole Kitchen Stools.

Redo Reveal Week 10

Heading into reveals, the couple described their redo room – their once "tiny" living room – as the "most dramatic transformation" of the week.   The team took out a wall, as suggested, and pushed back the entire corner, softening it with, you guessed it, a curve.  Satara's Fleur Swivel Chairs in Olive green were the perfect additon to this new space.

House 2 Leah and Ash

Work from Home Reveal Week 3

This week on The Block, Leah and Ash experienced "the highest of highs and the lowest of lows". Despite Dan's wet weather warnings, the couple didn't prepare as well as the others and suffered  from water damage as a consequence.

"We know you copped it the worst. You could have been defeatist about it. You kept going and that is a credit to you both," Scotty said at Block HQ.

The judges were blown away by the peacock-green colour of the walls. "This is glamazon," Shaynna said.

Darren was glad Leah and Ash had taken on last week's feedback.  "We said go bold again and it's definitely bold."

Their 'bold' selections included Satara's versatile Audrey Swivel Chairs.

As a whole, the judges loved the feel of the room.

Living and Dining Reveal Week 5

If ever there was a space that stamped Leah and Ash’s intention of making a statement, it was their WINNING living and dining room. “I am so glad I came back today!” said Neale as he celebrated his return to The Block with a visit to House Two’s brightly coloured, pop art inspired space starring a multicoloured armchair, Satara's midnight blue Bailey Dining Chairs and Camerich neon pink cocktail.

“It’s definitely polarising,” he said, “but they’ve pulled it off!”. And it wasn’t just with styling, Darren said. By changing the original plans, adding a chandelier alongside downlights then removing nib walls they’d created more space and given the home a better flow from downstairs to up.

Redo Reveal Week 10

From a weather damaged office to a perfectly executed fourth bedroom, the transformation of Leah and Ash’s redo room was “stunning”, Shaynna said. Playing the solidity of the marble fireplace off the Palm Springs aesthetic in styling choices, this was a room all agreed fit the home’s eclectic style well.

House 3 Kristy and Brett

Living and Dining Reveal Week 5

From the three-sided Stoke fireplace with polished plaster hearth to the adjacent textured wall, this was, Darren declared, a room to die for. Just one of two living spaces planned for down stairs, it was, Neale added, just perfect for servicing what will be a pool area outside the Aluplast windows. The lighting plan left Shaynna flat, suggesting the downlights could have either been pushed the room’s edges or made more central. But even with that, there was a warmth and depth to the colour palette that made it a room: “with a lot to love!”.

Warmth from Satara's Lola Ottoman in Cinnamon was layered with Satara's black timber Shore Coffee Table, both enhanded by Satara's Jackson Boucle Sofa in natural which was further dress with Satara's scatter cushons to provide a soothing colour palette.

Outdoor Back Yard Reveal Week 11

On first impressions, the judges liked Kristy and Brett’s backyard. The couple are the only team to leave the original home’s brickwork unpainted, and the judges loved how the original finishes of the home fused with the new modern architecture and cladding. They commended the size of the pool and the sense of privacy in what was originally the home’s front yard.  The outdoor dining area was perfectly positioned and featured a dining table using Satara's banana leaf Desa Placemats.

House 4 Steph and Gian

Work from Home Reveal Week 3

Marty immediately loved the sophistication of the room.

"It feels high end. The buyers in this market place will absolutely walk in and really appreciate it," he said.

The team carried their neutral tones, minimal styling, commitment to textures and attention to detail throughout the room's design. The judges thought the execution throughout was excellent.

Living and Dining Reveal Week 5

With an elevated dining room overlooking the sprawling living room, Steph and Gian had hoped to showcase their Japandi aesthetic, but instead, all Neale could do was question the reason behind its placement. “Does it improve the flow of the house,” Neale asked, “maybe not. And then there was the styling, he added, with so many ceramics in one place: “It feels like a retail space!”. They were won back by the execution and the adjacent living room with its wrap-around Aluplast glazing looking out onto the back yard, with Neale happily settling into one of Satara's Black Rattan Anna Lounge Chair to take it all in.

Master Bedroom and Walk-in Robe Reveal Week 6

Walking into Steph and Gian’s master wing, the first thing to hit the judges was the huge walk-in wardrobe and dressing area. With a huge marble-topped island, Hafele accessories, enough storage even for Shaynna, this screamed luxury. “This wardrobe could be in a $20 million home,” Marty said… a room you used to get ready to go out and then didn’t want to leave! But as impressed as they already were, the bedroom took their breath away. “This is HOT!” Shaynna said, admiring everything from the lighting plan to the neutral palette, the layout, styling and more.

This was a WINNING room.

Kitchen Reveal Week 7

Upon entering the space the judges loved Steph and Gian's kitchen, aesthetically, it's absolutely exquisite. It's that really clever mix of Scandinavian meets Japanese... even mix a little bit of Tuscan there with the urn and the foliage added Neeal.  He also summed up the kitchen in two words: "Beautifully dysfunctional, because that's what it is."

The other two judges agreed.

Kids Bedroom Reveal Week 9

Steph and Gian admitted they were feeling "confident but scared" about this week's Room Reveals.  After their rocky start with week 1 bedroom reveal,  the pressure was on to this time meet the brief.   So, they enlisted the help of some experts – real kids!

And won!

“This,” said Darren as he walked into the first of Steph and Gian’s twin rooms, “is the most sophisticated kids’ bedroom we’ve seen!” And the compliments didn’t stop there. With a soft colour palette (thankfully not all beige), the perfect pendants, bedhead reflecting the Japandi style and a swing chair, it was the best-styled room of the build, the judges said. Through the Jack and Jill bathroom into bedroom number two, the enthusiasm continued. Ample storage, on-point styling (down to hand-stickered artworks) and again a soft palette all added up to rooms that combined functionality, marketability and soul for a result Marty applauded as “brilliant flexibility.

House 5 Eliza and Liberty

Living and Dining Reveal Week 5

The one thing that screams luxury in a home, the judges agreed, is space. And Eliza and Liberty’s huge living dining area certainly delivered that. “This floorplan is the gift of all gifts,” Darren declared, “and you haven’t messed it up!”.

Looking out over what will be their backyard and with a central free-standing fireplace, one space is punctuated a table and stunning Patrice Chairs by Satara, Rosenberg art and a Camerich sculpture plus a porta timber feature wall with a generous inset television. It's a sophisticated space, they all agreed, that’s going to work very well against the kitchen to come.

Kitchen and Laundry Reveal Week 7

Overall, it was a great week of feedback for the girls, who nailed design,  functionality and the judges hearts, ultimatley WINNING kitchen and laundry week. As Neale is currently tag-teaming judging duties with Marty Fox, he said he was very happy to be back for Kitchen and Launrdy Week.  "I would not have missed it for the world," he said.

The room features Satara small Lola Ottoman in Cinnamon

The Block 2022 - Tree Change

House 1 Tom and Sarah-Jane

Kitchen Reveal Week 7

Tom and Sarah-Jane went into Kitchen Week on a high after  2 Room Reveals wins in a row. Like all teams, Sarah-Jane designed the kitchen layout and selected her state-of-the-art appliances in week two.

The judges were blown away upon entering the kitchen.  "There are times when I wish there was a word that kind of meant 'wow times a hundred', because 'wow' just doesn't cut it," said Neale.

The words "phenomenal" and "breathtaking" were suggested as suitable alternatives to wow.

For Darren the kitchen and pantry was just luxury in every sense of the word, while Neale thought it was perfect.

"It's appropriate – it's not screaming 'Look at me'. But what it is screaming is come here I'm going to cook you the most amazing dinner, we're going to open bottles of wine and we're going to have the most amazing party," Neale said.  Our Logan Weave Kitchen stools providing the perfect perch to do so!

"It just wraps itself around you, in the way Tom and Sarah-Jane's other rooms have been doing,"

Shaynna added, "This house has a pulsating heart and this kitchen is just beautiful."

The judges then scored perfect 10, consequently giving Tom and Sarah-Jane the ultimate winning room.

Dining and Living  Reveal Week 8

"Wow! This is magnificent" said Neale as they walked in.  The Judges were blown away by the scale of the room and height of the ceilings..

Shayanna said it was both elegant and rustic with a contemporary feel.

Unfortunatley the scale of the room and scope was too much for what Tom and Sarah Jane selected for the space, they should have had a larger sofa.

However our  Logan Weave buffet was perfect ly styled and positioned for iin between the 2 timber columns.

House 2 Rachel and Ryan

Master Ensuite  Reveal Week 3

Scott Cam suggested  Rachel and Ryan add more  artwork, wall sconces and a rug to help inject some personality and bring the room to life, to add a bit more country and a bit more eoomph.  But the team brushed off  the plea for more traditional styling in their home, content with their contemporary direction.

Rachel and Ryan did have a little country in their styling though, with  our Lucas Round Timber stool, native flowers and ceramic pieces.

Kitchen Reveal Week 7

“Our kitchen is in keeping with our Contemporary Lodge style, says Rachel. We’ve kept everything quite pared back and designed it so that it is the heart of our home, seamlessly connecting with the living and dining spaces.”

“We wanted our kitchen to be a ‘chefs delight’ that makes meal prep, cooking, and cleaning as easy as possible, explains Rachel. We also wanted it to be spacious, offer plenty of storage, and to be warm and welcoming- a place you can just sit and feel comfortable and calm.  Our Koko Kitchen stools are the perfect kitchen stool to do this.

Dining and Living  Reveal Week 8

This week finally Ryand and Rachel nailed it!

It’s been a long time coming, but from the moment the judges walk into Rachel and Ryan’s country lodge living and dining space, they finally see the couple’s vision. “I’ve got goosebumps!” Darren says. “They’ve done it!” Shaynna yells as she admires the floor to ceiling stone fireplace with a massive lounge wrapped in front, Satara Nolan Swivel Chairs expertly positioned to take in the winery views, exposed wooden beams highlighting an innovative Blackbutt ceiling that all combines to create what Neale sums up as a “minimalistic lodge” aesthetic that completes the kitchen and suits the home and region.

Finally Ryan and Rachel scored their first 10s and a very significant room win!

House 3 Ankur and Sharon

Kitchen Reveal Week 7

Striking and luxurious, Ankur and Sharon have produced an eye-catching kitchen that is the heart of their home featuring a bank of our New York Bar Stools with charcoal legs and vegan leather white seats.

They also styled their kitchen with a variety of Satara's reclamed timber home decor items

House 4  Dylan and Jenny

Bathroom  Reveal Week 2

Congratulations to the runners up of week 2, Dylan and Jenny who created a truly stunning bathroom

Neal described it as "fresh, welcoming - and kind of timeless as he walked into Dylan and Jenny's light airy bathroom.  Made even better Shayanna added, by the breath - taking view outside.  The bathroom was enhanced with our Cork Stool, which is available in white and black.

Master Bedroom and Walk-in Robe Reveal Week 3

After narrowly missing out last week, Dylan and Jenny had high hopes that their master bedroom and walk-in robe could land them at the top of the leaderboard.

intially the judges were surprised to be greeted by the spacious walk-in robe and impressed with their use of the unusally proportioned space in the bedroom.

"This is a nice bedroom, it's elegant" added Neale.  Our Allegra Lounge Chair featured in one corner and our scented candles were also throughout.

Hallway Week 8

Congratulations Dylan and Jenny on finishing first in Hallway/Hellway Week.

'The first Hallway that actually worked as a Hallway' said Darren, while Shayanna actually said ' This is Hot!'

We were thrilled our Reeves Console took pride of place in the entrance area of this mammoth 40m long hallway.

House 5 Omar and Oz

Kitchen Reveal Week 7

If there was ever a week the boys could win, it was Kitchen Week.

After delivering a winning bathroom in the first week of the show, Omar and Oz had $250,000 worth of kitchen appliances up their sleeve.

Omar and Oz's dark and moody kitchen stood out from the other teams' kitchens and designed "honours the sophistication and design aesthetic of the V-Zug appliances.

This sultry and moody kitchen was perfectly enhanced with our New York Kitchen Stools

There was no denying it was still a show-stopping space,   "This kitchen is going to sell this house," Darren said.

Scotty's House

Lucky the contestants weren't competing against Scotty during Kittchen week, so many stunning modern country features to love.

But hows the custom Christian Cole Island block bench and our gorgeousely textured Float Hole Bar stools perched underneath!

Scotty's Kitchen was also styled with a number of Satara's reclaimed timber bowls and plates.

The Block 2021 - Fans V Faves

House 1 - Ronnie and Georgia

Master Bedroom Reveal Week 3

"Ronnie and Georgia are proving themselves to be masters of sophisticated subtlety," Neale said.

"There are things that have been seen before but what Ronnie and Georgia seem to do so well is put them together. It's been done to an extraordinary level."

This sophisticated space featured our Alfa Bedside Tables and Alfa Sideboard

Guest Bedroom and Redo Room Reveal Week 5

In Week 5 Ronnie and Georgia decided to transform their guest bedroom into a 'teenager' room and ultimately the night.

"This palette and the pattern is my favourite room on The Block so far' said Shayanna and rewarded them with a perfect 10.

They made sure to offer a desk, our New York Desk,  for a teenager to use in their room — creating an ample and essential space for a study area.

Kitchen Reveal Week 6

Upon entering Ronnie and Georgia's kitchen, all three judges were impressed.

"It's impeccable," Neale said.

Darren agreed, adding that the space delivered from the ceiling to the floor.

However, Shaynna wasn't a fan of the sink, which was situated in the middle of the kitchen island.

For Neale, it was total simplicity, textured and layered.

"What did you call their style again, 'the new classic'?" Shaynna asked.

"'The new classic'? Yeah, all that," Neale replied.

We believe our Koko Kitchen stools, in their simplicity and design, were the perfect stools for this space.

Living and Dining  Reveal Week 8

The choice of keeping the colour palette minimalistic sat well with the judges, who think it will appeal to a variety of buyers.  Neale summed up the room with three words: "Classic, contemporary, luxury."

We were thrilled Georgia selected our Bergman Swivel Chair in Natural Boucle and left our showroom with a 'Santa sack' of highly textured Bedouin and chelsea cushions.

Backyard Reveal Week 10

Ronnie and Georgia styled their outdoor space with a selection of our 3 Beaches all weather outdoor cushions.

Garage and Basement Reveal Week 11

Ronnie and Georgia impressed the judges with their herculean effort this week to go on and win their 5th room reveal.

After leaving the garage and walking through a mud room the judges found themselves in a a fourth bedroom / study space.

"Oh"s and "wow"s were the first impressions of the space and despite a few minor finsishing issue the room does tick the boxes for the real estate brochure because it is essentially a bonus room they've created.

We were thrilled Georgias selected artwork from our showroom by Morgan Henson, his mornington penisula piece titled 'updraught cyprus' was perfect in this space.

House 2 - Mitch and Mark

Bathroom Reveal Week 2

Congratulations to the winners of week 2, Mitch and Mark who created a truly stunning bathroom

“Beautiful!” Shaynna said when she walked into Mitch and Mark’s guest ensuite and from the vibrant feature tiles to the double vanity, matte finish bath and basins and more, her fellow judges agreed.  The bathroom was enhanced with our Cork Stool, which is available in white and black.

Dining and Living  Reveal Week 8

Mitch and Mark delivered another space with soaring high ceilings, a cosy living area and luxurious dining table fit for hosting friends and family.Shaynna thought the dining table was generously proportioned.

"I would love a dinner party on that table, it just feels over the top," she said.

Highly textured and sophisticated in design, our Bailey Chairs were perfect in this large space.

House  3 - Tanya and Vito

Guest Bedroom Reveal Week 1

Tanya and Vito struggled to get their Guest Bedroom up to scratch, with numerous setbacks hindering the team throughout the week.

But the team managed to pull through to deliver a bright and fun room.  The room featured our  Addison Bedside Tables Rattan Drum Stool, Bin with Liner and round place mat.

Hallway Reveal Week 9

Walking in, the judges' first impression came from the big door separating the living and dining from the home office.

"This space is quite practical. There's a lot of light, there's a study nook. It really marries everything together really well," he said.

The clever space was further enhanced with Satara's Patrick Office Chair.

Backyard  Reveal Week 10

Tanya and Vito presented the judges with a functional, useable outdodor areas.  Unfortuanately the jugdes thought it was a little under cooked and lacked cohesion with the rest of the house.

Never the less, our all weather Riva Outdoor Sofa and powder stone Banyan Coffee Table provide a perfect space to relax outside and the Kanye outdoor  Lounge Chair a lovely post to take in the pool view.

House  4 - Josh and Luke

Kitchen Reveal Week 6

As soon as Darren walked in, he was blown away.

"I know this is Kitchen Week, but it could be Window Entry Week, because wow," he said. "Look at this architecture, it is just glorious."

Neale thinks it's the perfect example of a monochrome kitchen, and it's a relief to see it so pared back.

The judges were excited about how this area would come together with the living and dining spaces.

"Look at what we've got now. We can actually see what this house was always promising to be, and this expansive living space, with that beautiful raked ceiling, and all of that northern light… holy cow!" Darren said to conclude their judging.

Satara's Digby Kitchen Stools were selected to complete the monochromatic look.

House 5  - Kirsty and Jesse

Guest Bedroom and Redo Room Reveal Week 5

It's the halfway point of The Block competition and Kirsty and Jesse have finally found their groove.

As we're reminded every week, the country couple has the biggest house in the cul-de-sac. In this "absolutely hectic" week, in Kirsty's words, they had to work on two bedrooms, make more progress on two bathrooms, and they also had to present their redo room to the judges. Kirsty and Jesse decided to fix the upstairs bedroom they presented in Week 1.

Kirsty visited Satara's showroom and selected our Zaira Side Tables for their redo bedroom. The bedside tables had room for items that can be stored and displayed at the same time.

"It's sophisticated, but also with a real sense of fun," Scott summarised.

Backyard Reveal Week 10

"Oh my God. This is insane!" Neale said upon stepping out.

"Wow," was Shaynna's reaction.

In fact the judges were all speechless as they took in everything Kirsty and Jesse had created.  The outdoor pavillion , the pool, the outdoor seating area and the Chicken House, blew the Shaynna's mind.

It was these things combined that ultimately rewared Kirsty and Jesse with another win.

Bayley House Challenge
