For over 18 years Satara , a leading designer furniture company has developed an admired reputation as a designer, importer and wholesaler of luxury furniture to the Retail, Interior Design and Commercial markets. As we enter our next phase of growth, we are creating a new role within the creative product team for a highly organised Product Development Manager to spearhead our product lifecycle; from initial global trend forecasting to final commercial launch, embedding the principles found within our Satara New Product Development (NPD) Strategy and Roadmap.
You will be the strategic anchor of our product roadmap and become a key contributor in our creative team. You will collaborate closely with our customers, manufacturing partners, sales and marketing team, and the executive leadership to bring beautiful, high-yielding furniture collections to life.
NPD Strategy & Roadmap: Own the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring all new collections align with Satara's design DNA and margin targets.
Trend Forecasting & Curation: Identify emerging shifts in design, materials, textures, and finishes across the residential and commercial design sectors. Develop a strategic roadmap for product range development to feed into the creative design process.
Supplier & Manufacturer Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with offshore and local manufacturers to prototype, refine, and value-engineer products without compromising design integrity.
Commercial Go-To-Market: Partner with Marketing and Sales to help create compelling product narratives, training materials, and launch strategies that resonate with our diverse customer base.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all products meet rigorous commercial wear, sustainability, and structural standards required by specifiers.
You are a rare breed: someone with creative flair, an impeccable eye for design, texture, and proportion, backed by an analytical, process-driven mindset. You have a passion for furniture and design a work well in a team environment focussed on excellence.
Proven Track Record: 4+ years in Product Management, Industrial Design, or Category. A relevant degree in design, product development, or related field is preferred though exceptional candidates with demonstrated experience may also be considered.
Product Management experience within the designer furniture, homewares, or premium interior finishes sector.
Market Savvy: A deep understanding of what Interior Designers and the broader design market look for in furniture (and a solid grasp of commercial specification requirements).
Process Discipline: Experience managing a structured NPD roadmap, stage-gate processes, and timeline tracking.
Negotiation & Communication: Excellent skills in managing supplier relationships and translating design concepts into technical production realities.
Creative Autonomy: Take genuine ownership of a highly respected product portfolio and leave your mark on the Australian design landscape.
